Roasted Jalapeno Avocado Sauce

There's something about the combination of jalapenos and avocados; It's not just their flavours but how they complement each other perfectly. This Roasted Jalapeno Avocado Sauce is a prime example of how simple ingredients can elevate a dish, offering a blend of heat and creaminess that enhances any meal.

The ingredient list for this sauce is simple, but the flavours are anything but. Roasting jalapenos and garlic brings out a depth of flavour that pairs wonderfully with the creamy texture of ripe avocados. This process transforms these everyday ingredients into a rich and satisfying sauce.

Beyond its taste, this sauce is a nutritional powerhouse. Avocados offer healthy fats, fibre, and essential vitamins that support heart health and overall wellness. Jalapenos bring more than just a spicy kick; they're loaded with metabolism-boosting capsaicin, vitamin C, and antioxidants.

So, grab your apron and let's get cooking!

Roasted Jalapeno Avocado Sauce

Ingredients:

• 6-8 whole jalapenos
• 3 ripe avocados
• 6 cloves of garlic, with skins on
• ¼ to ½ cup of fresh lime juice (adjust to taste)
• A generous handful of fresh cilantro, both leaves and stems, thoroughly washed
• 1 tsp of sea salt or to taste

Directions:

1. Preheat your oven's broiler to high. Line a baking tray with unbleached parchment paper for easy cleanup.

2. Arrange the whole jalapenos and garlic cloves on the prepared tray. Place the tray in the middle of the oven to ensure even broiling.

3. Broil for about 8 minutes, or until the jalapenos and garlic develop a nice char, remembering to turn them halfway through for an even roast.

4. While the jalapenos and garlic are under the broiler, halve the avocados and scoop their flesh into a blender.

5. Once the jalapenos and garlic are sufficiently charred, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool just enough to handle.

6. Trim the tops off the jalapenos, slice them in half lengthwise, and remove the seeds to control the heat level. Place the prepared jalapenos in the blender. Next, squeeze the roasted garlic out of its skin directly into the blender. Then add the cilantro, ¼ cup of lime juice, and sea salt. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth. If the sauce is too thick, gradually add more lime juice until you achieve a smoother sauce-like consistency.

7. Transfer the sauce to a serving bowl. It's now ready to be enjoyed as a dip, spread, or sauce. It also pairs well with my Taco Bowl recipe, adding a creamy and spicy flavour that elevates the dish.

This sauce is incredibly versatile. Whether drizzling it over tacos, adding it to a bowl or spreading it on a sandwich, it's an easy way to add nutrition and flavour to your meals.

I'm always looking for ways to make meals more exciting and nutritious. This Roasted Jalapeno Avocado Sauce does just that. Now, I'd love to hear from you.
